COLLABORATION WITH INTERNATIONAL/NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
During the period under review, AARDO collaborated with the following organizations:
Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Tokyo, Japan :
At the kind invitation from the APO, Tokyo, Japan, the Secretary General
attended, as an Observer the 57th Workshop Meeting of Heads of National
Productive Organizations (NPOs) (WSM), held in Kuala Lumpur on 19-21
October 2016. He also had discussions with participants from APO, CIRDAP and
delegates from India and Sri Lanka and explored the possibility of organising
some collaborative activities.
Thai National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (THAICID),
At the kind invitation of the Thai National Committee on Irrigation and
Drainage (THAICID), Thailand, the Secretary General attended the 2nd World
Irrigation Forum on “Water Management in Changing World: Role of Irrigation
for Sustainable Food Production” and the 67th International Executive Council
Meeting, held at Chiang Mai, Thailand on 6-12 November 2016. He presented a
Keynote Paper on “AARDO's Role in Sustainable Use of Water Resources and
Management” at the Inaugural Function and also co-chaired a side event on “Agriculture Water Management for
Sustainable Rural Development” on 07 November 2016.
Twenty-second Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22), Marrakesh :
At the kind invitation of H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, and
President designate of COP22/CMP12, Marrakesh, the Secretary General attended the 22nd Session of the Conference of
the Parties (COP 22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Marrakesh on 7-18
Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), Dhaka and the Malaysian Agricultural
Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Selangor :
The Secretary General attended the Round Table on “Agricultural Insurance - A Climate Change Adaptation Tool in African,
Asian and Pacific Regions” held in Selangor, Malaysia on 06-10 February 2017. The event was organised by AARDO in
collaboration with CIRDAP and the MARDI.
During the period under review, AARDO signed MoU with the following two institutions :
1. AARDO signs MoU with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of
AARDO and the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on 30 November
2016 for capacity building programmes in India for the AARDO sponsored
candidates from its member countries.
Under the MoU, the esteemed Ministry of Rural Development has offered an
additional contribution of US $600,000 for the three years, 2017-2019
amounting to US$200,000 per year towards the capacity building
programmes by way of organising short-term training programmes at
Institutes of Excellence, Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development
Management (PGDRDM), workshops/seminars and study visits in India for
the AARDO-sponsored candidates from the member countries.
AARDO thankfully acknowledges this kind gesture on the part of the esteemed Government of India.
2. AARDO signs MoU with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Republic of Korea :
AARDO and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Republic of Korea have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) on 30 December 2016 for the organisation of “Sustainable Rural Development (SRD)” Programme in
Republic of Korea. The MoU will remain valid for five years effective from 2017. It is expected that the training course
would be beneficial to AARDO member countries.
