During the period under review, AARDO signed the Memoranda of Understanding with the following organizations:

i) International Sericultural Commission (ISC), Bengaluru, India

AARDO and ISC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative activities. The MoU, inter alia, envisages facilitating exchange of information, experiences, views, experts between both the Organizations as well as taking up studies, action research projects and organizing exposure visits and training programmes in the field of sericulture and other areas of mutual interests. AARDO and ISC have already begun the process of implementing the MoU by planning an International Workshop-cum- Exposure Visit on “Potential of Sericulture and Silk Industry for Employment and Income Generation in AARDO Member Countries”, in Mysore during the first half of April 2016.

The International Sericultural Commission is an inter-governmental Organization engaged in the development of sericulture and silk industry in the world. The Commission has 16 countries as its members. ISC's main objective is to develop the sericulture industry in existing and new areas through coordinated actions and convergence of programmes extended by different countries, international organizations and other agencies and to organize specialized programmes and activities in capacity building, volunteer expert services, establishing linkages among the sectors, and enhancing facilities for common use

(ii) COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, Pakistan

AARDO and the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for building-up capacities of young officials from AARDO member countries through the Programmes at CIIT. Under the MoU, the programmes will be open for participation by AARDO member countries at CIIT for Master of Science (MS) and Ph.D. in disciplines like computer sciences, bio sciences, project management, etc., or other disciplines which may be mutually agreed upon.

CIIT is a leading Institute of international repute for scientific research located in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Institute has an entrepreneurial ethos that promotes knowledge and technology, and provides professional education of an international standard. CIIT, since its establishment in 2000, has been at the forefront of innovations and has played an active part in shaping higher education.

AARDO approached the following Organization/Institute/Company for collaboration during the reporting period:-

African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; (ii) League of Arab States, Cairo, Egypt; (iii) The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Khartoum, Sudan; (iv) South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Kathmandu, Nepal; (v) Institute of Green Bio Science and Technology, Seoul National University, Republic of Korea; (vi) Tierra Inca Resources S.A.C., Lima, Peru; & (vii) International fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Rome, Italy.
