ACTION RESEARCH
The rural development has clinched the increasing attention in most of the member countries of AARDO since its inception in 1962. The emphasis of rural development has been on the process of modernising traditional agricultural practices to increase farm productivity and income of the rural poor by adopting new and appropriate technologies and approaches through capacity building and poverty alleviation programmes. As part of AARDO’s efforts for agricultural and rural development, action research studies would address issues relevant towards furthering the poverty alleviation efforts. Research studies would focus on the dynamics of the socio-economic changes in rural communities in AARDO member countries. The main objectives of the programme is to identify and analyse the factors affecting the rural communities and provide guidelines to the policy makers and the implementers of the agricultural and rural development programmes/projects based on the findings of the research studies.
The action research would be undertaken by AARDO in collaboration with the regional and international institutions having expertise in fields of the studies. AARDO’s regional offices would also be involved to undertake the proposed studies. Four (4) studies are envisaged to be undertaken during the triennium 2006-2008. The findings of these studies will be made available to all the member countries so that they may also be benefited from the findings of the research studies.
Under this programme, research study on "Jordan Accession to WTO : Impact on Agriculture Sector" was conducted 2007
